It seems that you are dealing with co-addiction. I am glad that you were able to divorce your wife. I like the line "constantly finding it more and more difficult to remember what life is like outside the world of the tree." As an addict myself, I know how easy it is to get accustomed to my addictive life and how hard it is to let it go.
