Inge Offermann

Going southward

Going southward,

taking sun with me

or leaving behind,

branches dividing

on a moonlit track.

Going southward,

accompanied

by a sunray,

going southward,

or leaving a sunray

behind,

not knowing

the course

of my way

like water

digging its bed

into bottom

as it streams.

Nach Süden

Nach Süden gehen,
die Sonne mit
mir nehmen
oder zurücklassen,
Zweige zerteilend
auf mondhellem Weg.
Nach Süden gehen,
begleitet von einem
Sonnenstrahl oder
einen Sonnenstrahl
zurücklassen,
nicht kennend
den Verlauf
meines Weges,
wie Wasser
das sein Bett
während des Fließens
in den Boden gräbt.
