The Naked Passenger

No mercy surrounds Misery Island,
but largely enough water.

No hand rails along the road,
but deep ditches at both sides.

Not less than feared,
but after all fewer than expected.

Listening without to hear,
talking in silence.

Loving without emotions,
leaving without regret.

Almost everyone, almost everywhere,
almost always on the wrong track.

With eyes constantly closed,
not looking for answers any longer.

Hardly more than a blink of the eye
between one’s birth and death.

Importance is a barely visible
chameleon in perfect disguise.

Mirrors telling tales
while tales become mirrors.

The naked passenger
does surely not talk about all that.
