MIMICRY OF FLIGHT

...as if they were unusual in unknown or forgotten lands,

- arid and barren -
humble yellow flowers sprout from my breast;

and if from among reds and purples, the sacred fire arises, transcends, and shines behind purest oranges,
from the splendor of poppies and living sun, I seize and drink,

and likewise from the rose-light and the crimson-green of the world,

and from the indigo and gold,
from that one, the sweetest and deepest, that which is so chaste and faithful to the heart;

[But should I warn that upon taking flight,
beneath the blue I am enraptured and amidst the violet I am free...?]
...this rainbow,
this divine serpent or cobra,
this powerful, vital, and incandescent flow,
this force-energy that floods and ignites, that illuminates and burns,
this deistic bonfire of man,
this fire of mine and yours,
this sublime honor,
this light,
this honey.
