Your poem feels like a warning spoken from within a society that has lost its moral balance. What struck me most is the sense of exhaustion running through the lines, i.e. where people no longer believe in promises, hunger replaces hope, and anger grows where compassion has failed.
I particularly like the opening stanza because it reminds me of the old idea that a lie can travel around the world three times while the truth is still tying its shoes. Your poem captures that perfectly: falsehood spreads quickly because people are often more willing to believe comforting or manipulative narratives than difficult truths, and how easily critical thinking can be surrendered. “This world stays foolish, deaf, and young” sounds bitter, but also deeply disappointed in humanity’s inability to learn.
Your verses become strongest for me when they connect social inequality with emotional consequences: grief ignored turns into rage, empty words become fuel for hatred, and corruption destroys trust. That gives the poem political weight without making it feel like a slogan.
I also think the title works well because “Those who live in shadows” can refer both to the forgotten people suffering at the margins and to those operating dishonestly behind the scenes. That ambiguity adds depth to the poem.
