Enchantment

Enchantment

A Fairy went along the road
accompanied by an ugly toad
in early morning dew.

The fairy left no mark of her tread,
the toad’s broad footprints were all wet.
They glittered in the blue.

A Prince came on his stately mare.
He saw the marks glistening so fair
 that he must follow.

He rode into the thickest wood
to where a giant oak trunk stood
and found a tiny hollow.

He left his horse and bent deep down.
There in the grass a brilliant gown
of spider’s web he found.

The toad approached to ask him in.
Since then the Prince no more was seen.
He was spellbound.

If you – by chance – come to this place
don’t hesitate – prolong the space
and don’t look to the ground.
