Waiting for the Waiter

Tomorrow, hopefully,
Having waited for the waiter.
A week, a day, another day,
Some time more, and later.
My editor has done his work,
With a pencil sharp and fine.
Taking out this here word,
Changing line after line.
It is then returned to me,
Shortened and in style.
It was worth the waiting for.
That week, that day, the while.
