The handkerchief tree

I saw at the Zoo a handkerchief tree,
it was so small und so bare,
I am not sure what I did see,
it needed some sun and care.

If I return to see this tree
in June or in July,
it will have hankies all in white,
and hankies make me cry.

But if  I really had to cry
and a dripping nose, let's say,
I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed
to take a hanky away!
